I entitled this painting "Ikebana" which is the art of Japanese
flower arranging. My husband and I spent three years with the US Air Force
in Japan (1967-1971) during which time I took flower arranging classes from a
beautiful Japanese lady named Mrs. Mitaki. She would come to our homes in
traditional Japanese dress bringing fresh flowers for each of us to
arrange. The vase part of this painting is a portion of a rice-paper
napkin I brought back from that tour of duty.
